Acts 27+28

The “Euroclydon” (pronounced UR-AH-CLA-DON) is the name of the cyclonic tempestuous northeast wind which blows in the Mediterranean. This was the wind that blew the prisoner ship Paul was on off course in Acts 27 and 28. Paul was on his way to Rome to testify before Caesar, after being falsely accused of many things by the Jewish religious leaders.

What he was really being persecuted for was preaching The Way.

During their perilous journey, the ship eventually hits a reef, breaks apart, and Paul (and the entire crew) jump. Forced to use the broken planks of wood of the ship to surf to shore (side note: were Paul and his gang the first surfers?), they arrive on the beaches of Malta, where they ultimately find safety and where Paul stays for three months and leads many to Jesus. Though, not without being bit by a snake moments after arriving…

Euroclydon LLC is named after this wind. Not to glorify the storm itself, but because some of the worst time in life are often God’s leadership and guidance to something much greater.
