RILEY EASTWOOD SENDS HIS REGARDS 〰️
Hello Dear Readers!
Camp has definitely gained some traction in the last month and I am excited to see new buyers, whether Kindle and paperback. There are some questions that my readers are now beginning to ask through Contact pages and online. So, let’s address them here! (Also will be updated on the FAQ sections of websites).
Question 1: When is Camp II coming out?
Soon-ish? Funny thing that word soon. The team and I are aiming for a 2026 date, but we have not decided yet. Some of it depends on bureaucratic institutions that are often overwhelmed and some of it depends on my own personal life and some of it depends on what kind of traction Camp I continues to get. If you are curious, all announcements will come through EMAIL first. So, please subscribe to email updates and make sure you select “accepts marketing.” Don’t worry—we’re not going to sell your email or start emailing 10,000 times to convince you to buy a hat. You can decide to buy a hat on your own terms.
Question 2: How can we support Camp?
Wow. I love this question! The absolute best thing you can do right now? Leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads. AND tell your friends, if you think they’d like it. Please don’t tell your Aunt Mildred who hates adventure books. If you must tell Aunt Mildred, please don’t let her write a review if she hates it. ;) Partially kidding. That’s the best way to support Camp! Reviews give things “social proof”— I am the first to admit that when I see a product with one review, I am a little suspicious. When I see a product with ten-twenty, I am less suspicious! So more reviews = more buyers = more Camp! You guys are my Book Army :)
Question 3: Do I use AI in my writing?
NOOOOO. Goodness gracious, no!
LLMs are definitely helpful in certain aspects of life and we do use them to create images on this website and thecampchronicle.com but not in my actual books. ChatGPT and friends are cringe-worthy writers. But worse than cringe could ever be, it takes away from Camp itself. I’ve been writing Camp (and my other books) since 2018 and if I turned over my literal life’s work to an LLM… I’d be really losing my mind. Rest assured, Ronan & friends stay untouched by Chat, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and whatever else exists out there.
Of course, Chat can be helpful when trying to optimize Amazon blurbs or ads and it definitely helped me figure out Amazon’s publishing quirks and bugs, but my goal here is to produce books that are untouched by our soon to be AI overlords. I write it all and do not use Chat to write things. End of story.
Question 4: What is The Mirror Garden?
Good question. Mirror Garden is my next series. However, it’s not a typical series like Camp (or other future announcements…)—MG will be a “series” and also each book will be a stand-alone. Meaning you could pick up Book 4 and still understand it completely (not the case for Camp!). You might be a little confused by name drops here and there but the book as a whole will still make sense. Further, our two main characters are often mirrored versions of the main characters in the previous books, echoed across different timelines and what-ifs. As much as they meet each other, they are really meeting themselves. … It’ll make more sense when you read it.
We are hoping to publish the first of MG in Spring 2026. Be aware: MG is very different from Camp! So prepare yourself accordingly!
Thank you to all my lovely readers for your support! We’re excited that you are loving CC: SOL so far.
xx RJ
